Small School ECIC Swimming Championship

Last Thursday the swim team traveled to Clarence for their Small School ECIC Championship meet.  Out of the 12 schools that participated Springville took 3rd place trailing behind East Aurora (1st) and Iroquois (2nd).  It was a great meet for our girls with many best times had.  The 200 Medley Relay (in picture) started the meet out getting their best time and NEW SCHOOL RECORD of a 1:58.53. (Elle Holland, Carley Delaney, Lauren Ditchey, Hannah Bergner).  This record was previously broken in 2004 by Alicia Ellis, Daina Bouquin, Elicia White, and Melissa Mankowski.  Julia Uhteg swam her first career ECIC meet in the 200 freestyle and swam a strong race dropping over 2 seconds off her PR.  Lauren Ditchey swam 200IM (-2.5 seconds) and 100 Back (-1.5 seconds) and tenths/hundredths seconds away from sectional cut time.  Lilia Dinse swam her first career ECIC meet and dropped 2.5 seconds in 200 IM.  Hannah Berger took her 50 and 100 free to the next level dropping into the 26.’s and breaking a 1:00 (:59.28) making her the teams 2nd fastest freestyler! Carley Delaney knocked down both of her swims, 50 free (-.67) and 100 breast (-1.48) and less than 1 second away from that school record!!  Sadie Olrogg swam her PR in the 100 fly dropping a ½ second off.  Anna Lawton final broke her 1:12 in 100 fly as well and Emily Schlemmer had 2 of her best 200 and 500 swims of the season.  Next week the team that qualified for the Class C meet will be traveling to Olean HS to compete against all the other Class C schools.  Looking forward to the post season success!!
