At Free The Children, we’ve seen first hand that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and ending the exploitation of children. It’s where social and economic development begins, and the reason why Free The Children has committed to building schools and education centres for marginalized children around the world. Today, more than 50,000 children attend more than 500 Free The Children schools every day.

The education component of Adopt a Village is divided into two equally important areas of support.

  • $100 can purchase textbooks
  • $500 can support teacher salaries
  • $1,000 can support the building of teacher accommodations
  • $8,500 will fund the building of a school and required infrastructure

Springville-Griffith Institute has partnered with Free The Children to build a school in Costa Rica and Sierra Leone.

"Working as a team effort with students, teachers, administrators, and the Toronto based group Free the Children, our Human Rights group is proud to announce that we have raised the $4,250 necessary to build a school in Sierra Leone.  While it costs $8,500 to actually build one, Free the Children had a donor program who matched the funds we raised. What a great accomplishment for our school community! Stay tuned for picture updates on construction this Fall..."
