Colden Elementary School nurse Maggi Preston recently received recognition from the New York State Association of School Nurses, earning the organization’s “Everyday Hero” award.
Preston was nominated by Springville-Griffith Institute High School nurse Lindsey Drozd, who nominated her “for being a stellar leader and being exceptionally caring and outgoing towards her students, parents, and school community.”
“Maggi has been very helpful to me, personally, as I transitioned into the SGI district from another district and has taken the lead on a number of nursing tasks and just being extremely welcoming,” Drozd said. “She is also incredible with the students. Seeing her interact with them brings me back to why we do what we do!”
The New York State Association of School Nurses (NYSASN), the professional association that solely represents school nurses across New York State, recognizes “Everyday Heroes” as “school nurses who go above and beyond their daily activities in making their schools a safe and welcoming environment.”
