The music department will be accepting donations of musical instruments at this concert.  There will be a table in the lobby where donations of band and orchestra instruments will be gladly accepted.  Donated instruments will be used to provide more Springville students the opportunity to participate in our district music program.

The Concert Band will begin the program under the direction of Joseph Gervase.  The band will begin with The Gladiator, a march by the great composer and bandleader J.P. Sousa.  Next will be J.S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in B-flat, followed by contemporary composer R.W. Smith’s The Maelstrom.

The concert will continue with the Chorus under the direction of Julie Noeson.  They will begin with Tshotsholoza , a South African freedom march arranged by Jeffrey Ames.  Next will be Phil Farugia’s arrangement of Mumford and Sons song Awake My Soul.  The chorus will close with a medley of songs from the show Jersey Boys, which features the music of Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons.

The performance will conclude with the Orchestra under the direction of Scott Roudebush.  The orchestra will begin with selections from British composer Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite for string orchestra.  Next will be Encounters, a contemporary piece by composer Jack Bullock.  The orchestra will close with Elmer Bernstein’s famous theme from the movie The Magnificent Seven.

The High School Jazz Band and the “Tuesday Night” string ensemble will perform before the concert, starting at 6:30 p.m.
