SGI Envirothon Team


On April 26th, the SGI Envirothon Team placed second overall at the Erie County Regional Envirothon Competition. Sponsored by the National Conservation Foundation the regional competition is an annual environmentally themed academic competition for high school aged students. The competition is held by the United States and Canada on a regional, state, and bi-national level.

Representing SGI at the event were SGI seniors Amy Stabell, Grace Gernatt, Lauren Pukay, Morgan DePue and Benn Smith. The students competed in five events covering aquatics, forestry, wildlife, soils, and a current issue facing the environment. This year’s current issue was Rangeland management which required the competing students to problem solve the issue and provide adequate solutions though a group oral presentation.
