SGI Volleyball Gets 2 Big Wins versus Ellicottville


The JV girls volleyball team defeated Ellicottville 3-0 on Monday night.  The Lady Griff’s out scored the Eagles 25-15 and 25-11 the first two games with 6 kills by MacKenzie Owens, 9 assists by Lauren Frescella and serving lead by Alivia Sipes, McKenzie Steff and Colleen Keller.  The third game the Griff’s rallied back from a 10 point deficit to beat the Eagles 26-24 with great serving by Francesca Palmisano and three aces by MacKenzie Owens.  The team travels on Thursday to face Pioneer. 

After finishing 2nd in the Lake Shore invitational tournament this past weekend, the Lady Griffs varsity volleyball team defeated Ellicottville in a non-league contest in 5 sets.  25-27, 25-17, 17-25, 25-14, 25-21.
Rachel Stressinger was the star of the show with 13 kills, 14 passing assists, and 4 aces.  Injuries and fatigue from a long weekend set the team back but the girls pulled it together and worked for the win tonight.  The team is ready to do it again Tuesday when the Lady Griffs host City Honors.
