The varsity girls basketball team dropped a tough non-league game to Mt. Mercy Academy by a score of 55-41. The girls played with great energy throughout the contest; consistently diving for loose balls and making all the hustle plays a coach could ask for. Unfortunately, the girls shot 11 for 22 from the foul line and missed several lay-ups to help close the gap. The girls were within 3 points midway through the third quarter behind the excellent scoring of Ivette Lewandowski (16 points.) Lewandowski was terrific on both ends of the floor, as was Kenz Owens whom poured in 8 points, 4 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot. Other scorers on the night included: Kelsey Zabawa with 8 points, Bella Oakley with 6 points, Meg Rehrauer with 3 points, and 1 point from Grace Zabawa. Despite the loss the girls are very excited about opening up the home portion of their season when they play host to Lackawanna tonight at 6:30. Come out and support this terrific basketball team!!!!
