The varsity girls tennis team took home a forfeited win on Monday against the Tonawanda Warriors. The Warriors didn’t have enough girls to play on the day so the lady griff’s took the 5-0 win.
On Tuesday night the girls traveled to West Seneca West and dropped a tough 3-2 match. In first singles play Lily Vanuga was excellent winning 6-2, 6-1. Lily was excellent with her play as she handled the tough conditions well.
In second singles action Haylee Cerrone fell in straight sets 3-6, 2-6. Haylee battled tough throughout but couldn’t break through against a quality opponent.
In third singles action Maria Rumfola was fantastic and won 6-1, 6-3. Maria won a lot of tough points and found a way to pull out the big win.
In first doubles action the girls lost 0-6, 0-6. With the team score tied up at 2-2 the tandem of Layla Gartler and Ava Dziak had a chance to pull out the win but fell just short 6-7 and 5-7. Both girls played well and had a lot of good moments throughout the match. The girls will look to rebound against Depew this afternoon in a big league matchup.
