Voting Experience at CES

Colden Elementary students got to experience voting first hand in a very unique and fun way!  CES students were given the opportunity to make a healthy choice for their preferred vegetable by casting a ballot for their favorite. Mrs. Button’s 5th grade class represented the “Carrot” Party, and Mr. Broom’s room represented the very green “Celery Party.” Students dressed in orange or green depending upon their personal preference.  A 9-foot carrot came to take up residence in Mrs. Button’s room while Mr. Broom’s students rocked out to “We are the Celery” (a takeoff of the “We Are the Champions” song). After strong campaigns from both classes—replete with students offering campaign speeches to the whole school to support their favorite veggie—CELERY came out ahead, winning the prize by just THREE votes.
