The varsity girls' basketball team dropped a non-league game to number 9 state-ranked Pioneer by a score of 53-27. The final score is very misleading as the girls battled back after a 1st quarter that saw them down 24-3. From that point forward the Lady Griff’s decided to play at a higher level and not be intimidated. As the game progressed, it was clear that the girls would battle until the final buzzer. The girls defense picked it up as they only surrendered 20 meaningful additional points after the 1st quarter. The girls were much more active on defense thanks to Sophia Robinson's aggressiveness. She was an anchor down low and challenged many shots. The girls had the game cut down to a 14-point deficit, but they couldn’t get over the hump. Scorers on the night included:
