Nick Gold collected three hits in four at-bats as Springville defeated JFK 12-1 on Wednesday.  Gold tripled in the fifth inning, singled in the third, and singled in the first inning.  Gold started on the mound for the Griffins and pitched six innings, striking out 13 batters.  Gold also allowed seven hits and one run over the six innings on the mound.  Relieving Gold from the mound was Alex Brown to finish out the win for the team.  It wasn’t until the bottom of the 3rd inning when Hunter Runser tripled and Gold singled that scored both of them to put the Griffs on the board.  Springville scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning.  A wild pitch scored a run, Runser singled, scoring one run, an error scored a run, Robert Moriarty singled, scoring a run and Alex Brown singled, getting 2 RBIs.  Collaboratively, Springville piled up 13 hits in the game, with Gold and Runser being the force of the lineup, as they each collected three hits.  Other hits were obtained from Drew Reynolds, Zach Evans, Max Perry, and Brodie Glass.
