FINGERPRINTING

NYS Education Law requires that persons who work in a NYS public school district are to be fingerprinted for the purpose of conducting a criminal background check. Prospective employees of school districts must be fingerprinted, undergo a criminal background check, and be issued clearance by the NYS Education Department before commencing employment in any capacity in a New York State public school district.

If you were previously fingerprinted for employment in a school district, charter school or BOCES, or in connection with an application for certification, you do not need to be fingerprinted again.

Information and instructions for Fingerprinting through the NYS Education Department/Office of OSPRA can be accessed at the following link: http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tsei/ospra/

There is a non-refundable processing fee in the amount of $102.00 charged by the NYS Education Department.
