The theme for Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) at Springville Elementary was "Reading is Out of This World." The activities centered around space and Star Wars.
Students made their own spaceship from materials they found at home. Students earned tickets for their reading and participating in activities for a chance to enter the PARP Raffle. Winners were:
- Kindergarten - Sadie Naughton
- First Grade - Reyia Quinn
- Second Grade - Ayla Conner
- Third Grade - Sage Miess
- Fourth Grade - Marshal Seely (not pictured)
- Fifth Grade - Emery Hilliker
Every hallway at SES was decorated for the PARP theme. Students sent in pictures of themselves reading at home. They also voted on a Star Wars-themed book battle, which pitted books against each other in a bracket. The book coming out on top was "The Book With No Pictures," By B.J. Novack. Each class decorated the hall outside their door, and students also decorated stars with depictions of their favorite books to create a starry galaxy on the ceiling!
Students also enjoyed a visit from local author Dee Romito and other activities like "Chalk the Walk," reading with a buddy, a digital escape room and an ice cream social sponsored by the PTA.
