Dear SGI Families: 

I hope this message finds you well as we near the beginning of the 2023-24 school year.  We are so excited to welcome all of your children back on September 5th!

I am also following up on communications that you have received from your children’s building principal regarding lunch prices for the coming school year.  You will recall that, based on a change from the USDA, the District was able to use excess funds from the school lunch program to offer meals at no cost to students from January 17th through the end of last school year.  Unfortunately, those funds have been exhausted.  While we will return to paid meals, the following prices have remained unchanged since 2020 and will be used once again this school year:  

  • Breakfast - $1.70 - CES, SES, SMS, SHS 
  • Lunch - $2.05 - CES, SES 
  • Lunch - $2.20 - SMS 
  • Lunch - $2.35 - SHS
  • Lunch - $2.35 - PTECH

We will note, there have been discussions since March of 2023 of the USDA lowering the threshold for the Community Eligibility Program (CEP).  We are continuing to monitor this situation and advocate for state and federal programs that would benefit our families and students. We will alert families of any changes as they become available.

We strongly encourage every family, regardless of income, to fill out the free/reduced lunch application form at myschoolapps.com.  Last year, we utilized this digital platform and we are confident that you will find it to be significantly easier to complete than the traditional paper application.
