Greetings SGI High School and Middle School Families:
We are inviting you to join us on October 8th from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM for an informative session on "Artificial Intelligence and the Law," presented by Detective Richard Lundberg of the Erie County Sheriff's Office. This important event will take place in the Springville High School Library Media Center and is open to the public, with a special focus on families of middle and high school students.
Detective Lundberg will discuss critical recent changes to New York state law, particularly the legislation that outlaws the creation of artificial intimate images using someone's likeness. This new law is a significant step towards protecting individuals from misuse of AI technology in the creation of non-consensual explicit content.
In addition to this key issue, the presentation will also address emerging trends in online child exploitation, highlighting the ways AI can be both a tool for safety and a potential risk. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how to navigate these complex topics and protect themselves and their loved ones in an increasingly digital world.
This event is a vital opportunity for parents and guardians to better understand the intersection of technology and law, ensuring they are well-equipped to discuss these important issues with their children.
Don’t miss this chance to engage with law enforcement and enhance your understanding of AI’s implications in our society. We look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
Meghan Janora SGI H.S. Principal
