In response to recently enacted legislation banning the use of Internet-enabled devices during the school day in New York State Schools, SGI wanted to share our proposed regulation with families in anticipation of the start of school in September 2025.
Please note that this regulation serves to maintain the current status in both district elementary schools and the middle school, where the expectation has been for students to keep any electronic devices in their lockers for the entirety of the school day.
In order to craft the regulation below, the District brought together a varied group of stakeholders consisting of school staff, parents, and students. We are grateful for the efforts of this group, who we feel crafted procedures that meet the mandate of the law while also attending to the needs of individuals, all with an effort to maintain the strong climate and culture in our school buildings.
Please review the regulation below and let us know if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your anticipated support.
