Hello SGI Families,

I hope that the school year is off to a great start for your children!  With the new year, students being back with friends more regularly, and the excitement of Homecoming and all the associated activities this week, I wanted to get this message out.

We’ve had some scary moments over the years in terms of student substance use both on and off campus.  The good news that you’ll see in the infographic below is that most of our students are making good decisions when it comes to this topic and not using substances.  However, please don’t underestimate the importance of you talking to your kids about this topic.  There’s a link here for Talkitover.org, which can offer some excellent tools to get the conversation started.

Keeping our kids safe from substances is all of our responsibility.  I can promise as a parent and superintendent, we will keep doing as much as we can on our end to do just that.  I want to offer my most sincere thanks and appreciation for all that you’ve done as parents and will continue to do!  If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you all the very best for an excellent and safe school year!

James Bialasik
Superintendent
