New SHS Drop Off

Dear Springville-Griffith High School Families,

You may have noticed the congestion during morning drop-off at Springville-Griffith High School. In an effort to ease congestion on North Buffalo Street, we are implementing a new traffic procedure.

As you can see in the accompanying diagram, we are asking families traveling South, when turning right, to stay to the right-hand side of the SHS driveway and families traveling North, when turning left, to pull into the left-hand side of the driveway, forming two lanes. Both lanes will proceed cautiously through the parking lot, dropping off in front of the doors at the crosswalk. Students in the left-hand lane should cross in the crosswalk, not cutting between vehicles. From there, due to the narrowing of the parking lot, cars will take turns to form a single lane as they move toward the exit.

During the first few days of implementation, we will have law enforcement and school staff present to help parents become accustomed to the new procedure. This new procedure will start on Wednesday, September 16.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation as we make this transition. Our first priority is to keep our students, families, staff, and community members as safe as possible.
