2022-23 School Year Health & Safety Protocols

Dear SGI Families and Staff Members:

The beginning of the school year is just around the corner and we could not be more excited to welcome our students back to SGI!  Earlier this week, the NYSED in partnership with the NYSDOH, released guidance documents outlining expectations for PreK-12 schools.   Based on those protocols, we will start the school year in a manner quite similar to those school years that preceded the pandemic.  There will be no mask/social distancing mandate, no requirement to quarantine if exposed to someone with COVID-19, nor a requirement for anyone to be tested or vaccinated.

While this is certainly good news, we ask that parents/guardians, students, and staff members continue to be vigilant in their monitoring COVID-like symptoms and ask that you stay home if you are ill, or keep your student home if they are exhibiting symptoms.

On our part here at SGI, we will continue to emphasize proper respiratory hygiene, encourage frequent handwashing, and maintain our improved ventilation and cleaning protocols. Please rest assured that while the protocols have changed, our commitment to ensure a safe and healthy school environment is unwavering.

For more information, we ask that you review the New York State Department of Health’s Guidance for Schools and subsequent FAQ for Parents and Caregivers

On behalf of our Board of Education, Administration, Faculty, and Staff, thank you for your partnership in making Springville-Griffith Institute Central School District the incredible community that it is. I look forward to greeting our students on September 6th!

Sincerely,

James Bialasik
Superintendent
