UPK

Dear SGI Families,

Springville-Griffith Institute CSD is offering Full-Day Universal Pre-Kindergarten sessions in house at Colden Elementary School or with our partners at Early Bird. Thanks to additional State funding for UPK that we received beginning in 2022-2023, we offer the following options:

· Full-day UPK at Colden Elementary School

· Full-day UPK at Early Bird Childcare Center

Please indicate which location you prefer by checking the choices below. Transportation will be provided to both locations by our Transportation Department to and from school. Please note that students must be four years old to ride a school bus, and so families of UPK students that are three years old at the beginning of the school year will need to transport their child until their fourth birthday.

The primary purpose of our UPK program is to provide four-year-old children with the opportunity to access high-quality programs that prepare them for future school success through the development of strong foundational skills in early literacy and mathematics. Science and social studies themes are also explored. Our goal is to encourage and support student learning utilizing a student-centered approach based on strong instructional content that is tied directly to the New York State Common Core Pre-K Standards.

If your child is currently receiving special education services through the CPSE, please contact Mrs. Gow, Director of Special Education at 592-3256 before completing this form.

To be eligible, your child:

• Must be age four (4) by December 1 of the current year (A child who is age-eligible to attend kindergarten is not eligible for the UPK program).

• Must be a resident of the Springville-Griffith Institute Central School District (Section

3602-e of Education Law).

• Must meet all medical record and immunization requirements for school attendance.

• Parents must make a commitment to regular daily attendance.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Langworthy, UPK Coordinator, at 716-592-3217.
