The varsity girls tennis team won their first match of the season last night by sweeping Depew 5-0.
In the first singles action, Evelyn Berry crushed her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Evelyn was excellent with staying focused throughout the match and playing at a high level.
It was more of the same in second singles as Natalie Rumfola won 6-0, 6-0. Natalie was terrific with her shot making and court awareness.
In first doubles action, Peyton Wells and Taylor Wells won 5-7, 6-4, 10-7. The girls had to dig deep and overcome a first set loss. They did just that by sticking together and hitting quality shots when it mattered most.
In the second doubles action, Chloe Dinse-Johnson and Jackie Thompson won 6-2, 6-4. The tandem continues to improve over the last several matches, most notably with their ground stroke play and keeping their serves inbounds.
In third doubles action, Brooklyn Heim and Alexis Beckwith won 7-6, 6-4. The girls had adversity throughout the match but handled it wonderfully by making timely shots.
In doubles exhibition action Gianna Nevins and Mackenzie Neff won 8-2. The girls worked well together to get the win.
In singles exhibition action Teerada Dickson notched a big 8-5 victory. Teerada continues to improve every time she takes the court.
In additional doubles action Kailyn Sprague and Gianna Nevins won 8-1. The girls did a great job of staying consistent with their overall play.
The girls are now 1-3 overall, but more importantly, 1-0 in league play. The girls have matches scheduled next week so they look forward to improving over the next three days before the schedule gets busy.
