Dear SGI Middle School families,
This letter is to provide information about accelerated coursework offered here at Springville Middle School. Eligible students may elect to take some of the following courses:
Grade 7- Accelerated Science and Lab
Accelerated Math and Lab
Grade 8- Regents Earth Science and Lab
Regents Algebra 1 and Lab
To be eligible for these courses, students must:
Complete and submit an accelerated course application (science only). Ask your Science Teacher for an application. Applications are due by June 13th, 2025.
Take an entrance exam. Please see the description of exams on page 2 of this letter.
Maintain a minimum average of 90% to remain in the class
SMS provides the following support to help students succeed in accelerated courses:
Teacher access during the Triple E period
Academic after-school study halls and test review sessions, multiple days a week
Invigorating & engaging curriculum with experiential learning opportunities
