Our middle and high school students embraced the challenge of creating art to encourage safe choices this holiday season. The initiative, led by SADD and Above the Influence, will culminate in the anti-DWI messages being printed on paper bags and used at Cheap Chollies Wine and Liquor starting December 1st in conjunction with National Impaired Driving Prevention Month. The compelling designs were assessed by a judging panel of community leaders, including representatives from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and local businesses. The winning entries earned the student artists a variety of local prizes.

While she didn’t make it back to finals this time, her journey this season has been truly inspiring. Coming back from a season-long injury, Corinne showed determination, resilience, and heart — qualities that make any coach proud.
Corinne also holds the school records in the 200 & 500 free, a testament to her talent and dedication in the pool. She trains year-round, sets ambitious goals for herself, and we wholeheartedly cheer her on as she works toward her dreams for the next varsity season.
We’re so proud of you, Corinne! Keep pushing, keep believing, and keep making waves.

The Springville HS Key Club will be holding a Toy Donation Drop-off on Thursday, December 11, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. The drop-off will be held in front of Springville High School.
Please pull up in front of the main doors of the High School during those times, and a member of Key Club will gladly accept your donation. Any new and unwrapped toys and gifts for children, newborns through teenagers, will be gladly accepted.
Donated toys will be distributed to families in need in our area through the Springville Kiwanis/Love Inc. Holiday Toy Collection program.
Please help us make a family’s Holiday season a little brighter this year!

During the ceremony, Mrs. Stephanie Bacon, Executive Director of SYI, offered inspiring words of wisdom to our inductees. She encouraged them to never stop learning, to stay curious, and to remain open to perspectives different from their own. She reminded students that the four pillars of the National Honor Society serve not only as the foundation of NHS, but also as a guide for living a thoughtful and purposeful life.
Mr. Eric Holler was recognized as the National Honor Society’s Teacher of the Year. Mr. Holler was celebrated for providing meaningful, real-world learning experiences and for helping students discover their passions. Students shared that he brings passion, purpose, and excellence to everything he does—qualities that enrich our school every day. Congratulations!

Led by Kiersten Crone, who created personal invitations for each potential new teammate, this initiative was all about agency, inclusion, and belonging. By empowering current athletes to reach out and welcome others, our swimmers are taking ownership of their team culture and creating a space where everyone feels valued and connected.
This experience wasn’t just about swimming — it was about experiential learning in action. The girls learned what it means to lead, mentor, and create opportunities for others to succeed — skills that extend far beyond the pool. We’re so proud of our team for modeling what it truly means to be a Lady Griff!

This victory secures her spot at the NYSPHSAA Girls Swimming & Diving State Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center, beginning Friday, November 21st!
After being out for most of the dual meet season due to injury, Corinne came back stronger than ever—showing remarkable determination, resilience, and love for the sport.
We couldn’t be prouder of Corinne for her hard work and dedication. This talented junior will be making her first appearance at the State Meet, and we can’t wait to cheer her on!

Leading the way for SGI was Elke Melnik, who placed third individually in the Class C girls race, earning her a spot in the New York State Championships. Melnik’s strong finish helped anchor the team’s success against a deep and competitive field.
Also contributing to the team’s podium finish were Isabella Bogner, Hazel Zielen-Ersing, Deseray Hines, Caitlyn Rzepecki, Claire Chandler, Abby Kujawa, and Amanda Tartick, each turning in key performances to secure SGI’s runner-up spot.
On the boys’ side, Scott Peterman was the top finisher for Springville, pacing the team through a challenging course under crisp fall conditions.
The state meet will take place on November 15th at Queensbury High School, where Melnik will represent SGI among New York’s best runners.

Then students were asked to tackle holiday drunk driving head-on with the "Youth Voices. Holiday Choices. Campaign" contest. The initiative, headed by S.A.D.D and Above the Influence, challenges students in grades 6-12 to design compelling anti-DWI messages that will be printed on paper bags and used at Cheap Chollies Wine and Liquor starting December 1st. Students are competing for prizes, including Kissing Bridge passes and gift certificates, with submissions due by November 7th.
