Springville Modified Football improves its undefeated record to 4–0 with a 32–21 victory over Frontier!
The team showed up with focus and energy and, most importantly, worked as one to take over the field. Blocking, tackling, and executing were the name of the game.
A special shout-out to Mr. Reese for stopping by and watching his students perform at a high level.
Come out next Wednesday as the Griffs take on the Alden Bulldogs at Home and get Homecoming Week in full swing!

Although Catt/Little Valley had to forfeit due to low numbers, our Griffs were still able to get valuable work in through an unofficial scrimmage.
Springville’s offense found the end zone on numerous possessions, starting from the 40-yard line. The team showcased textbook blocking, strong execution, and impressive passing yardage.
Defensively, the Griffs once again locked down the field with solid tackling and a tremendous team effort.
Great work by all our players and coaches! This group continues to improve, compete, and find ways to get better every week.
Our next game is next Wednesday at Frontier High School, with a 5:30 PM kickoff.

Springville had a solid opening game, defeating Tonawanda 11–0. Santo led the scoring with five goals, while Weston added four and Roklan scored two. Jacob contributed three assists to help create scoring opportunities throughout the game. The defense held strong throughout the match, and Cade recorded the shutout in goal. It was a strong team effort to start the season.

The JV Girls Soccer team defeated St. Mary's 2-1 on Tuesday night at the S-GI turf field. Scoring in the victory were Jordan Merchant and Brianna Marinello. Wingbacks Maddie Brecker, Sophia Young and Evelyn Findlay were key in getting the ball to the offense and shutting down St. Mary's counters. The Lady Griffs have a 3-game homestand this week; their next game is Wednesday against Lakeshore.
The 7th-grade trip to Old Fort Niagara will take place on Friday, October 9. Please send in the permission slip to their teacher by September 25. Don't forget to sign it and indicate if your child will need lunch from the cafeteria that day.

It was a complete team effort, with all 34 players contributing throughout the night. The offensive line provided strong blocking, helping the running backs find the end zone three times. The defense continued to set the tone with textbook tackling and two interceptions.
The Griffins will travel to take on Catt/Little Valley for their next game, with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m.

Mrs. Coughlin's Middle School Health Class has a "class pet!" The stuffed, weighted sloth, Sheldon, will go home with students each weekend, and they will share his adventures on the "Sheldon's Weekend Adventure" Google Classroom. For Sheldon's first weekend adventure, Mrs. Coughlin took Sheldon to visit the new Buffalo Bills stadium, where they ran into Skyler and her family!
SMS teachers were just as excited as students to start the 2026-27 school year! Teachers filled in flyers, sharing their number of years of teaching, their favorite food, movie, song and summer memory.

As part of their recent Social Studies Unit on the impact of the Industrial Revolution on the environment with Mr. Beiter, each 8th grader was asked to bring in 5 plastic household items, which were later used by members of the Art Club to create sculptures. The students who made sculptures included Aurora Eckenrode, Jacquelynn Gentner, Madeline Kellerman, Skylar Kowalczyk, Lily McCrory and Caitlyn Rzepecki.
Their works are meant to symbolize one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time. If society continues to produce and discard plastic at current rates, it may eventually consume our landscapes, wildlife habitats, oceans, and even our bodies through microplastics found in food, water, and air.
At the same time, these sculptures are meant to inspire action rather than fear. Every piece of plastic used in this artwork was diverted from the waste stream and given a new purpose. The message is simple: While the plastic monster is growing, each of us has the power to reduce, reuse, recycle, and advocate for solutions that can shrink its influence.
The future of this story is still being written, and the choices we make today will determine whether the monster continues to grow or begins to disappear. Take action today!
