Early on, the girls were down 15-7, but they turned it around before halftime and were down 16-14 entering the locker room. Unfortunately, too much foul trouble plagued the Lady Griff’s, which hindered their offensive attack.
Next up, the girls host Eden in a big-time showdown in Division 4.

Please join us in congratulating the SGI Polar Plunge team for braving the frigid waters of Lake Erie in support of the Special Olympics of NY on December 5th! This annual fundraiser is a memorable event for our students each year, demonstrating their commitment to #InclusionAndBelonging of people with disabilities. This year we had 25 students take the plunge and raise a total of $5,000! Great job, students!

The varsity girls basketball team played Tonawanda on Friday night, in a league contest, and won 51-16. The girls set the tone from the start with some incredible defense. Dani Oakley led the charge defensively as she held Tonawanda's best player to 0 points on the evening. From there, the Lady Griffs executed their offense at a high level, playing with great unselfishness. Scorers on the night were:
Aubrey Roy- 20 points
Dani Oakley- 16 points
Kelcie Illig- 6 points
Lilly Enser- 3 points
Bella Sullivan- 3 points
Caroline Blidy- 1 point
The overall defense from the group was the story of the evening. Leah Franklin didn’t give an inch on her assignment, Bella Sullivan made strong plays on the ball, Brooke Ruzycki did a nice job with help defense, Kelcie Illig was a force when guarding the ball, Caroline Blidy hustled all over the court, and Lilly Enser made big-time hustle plays on the evening.
Other notable performances were Aubrey Roy scoring 9 points in one quarter and Dani Oakley getting 5 blocked shots.
The girls are back in action tonight as they play host to Wilson.

Springville Elementary loves reading! Students excitedly picked out books at the SES PTO Book Fair last week. Pictured is Mrs. Karb's class. Thank you again to the Springville Kiwanis for allowing every student to be able to take home a book this year! And a special thank you to all of the SES PTO volunteers who made it all possible.

The team had some great moments, including a short corner jump shot by Brooke Ruzycki, solid offensive rebounding by Caroline Blidy, a great floater by Bella Sullivan, strong post moves by Aubrey Roy, stellar defense by Kelcie Illig, a quality finish underneath by Leah Franklin, outstanding overall play by Dani Oakley and a great finish at the rim by Lily Enser.
Despite the result of one of the best teams in the area, the girls competed hard throughout the contest and showed determination. Scorers on the night included:
Aubrey Roy- 5
Lily Enser- 3
Bella Sullivan- 2
Leah Franklin- 2
Brooke Ruzycki- 2
Dani Oakley- 1
Caroline Blidy- 1
The girls are back in action tomorrow night as they open league play on the road against Tonawanda.

The Kiwanis Club of Springville has once again stepped into the role of "little elves" for Springville Elementary School this holiday season during the annual SES PTO book fair. Thanks to their generous efforts, every student at the school will receive a new book to enjoy during the holidays.
During a special presentation, SES Principal Karl Gesing graciously accepted the check from Kiwanis Club Lt. Gov. and former SES nurse Martha Anderson.
