This season will forever be remembered for the team’s success, but most importantly, the leadership and maturity of SGI’s five seniors. Bryce Cook, Garrison Heichberger, Matt Baumgartner, Liam Bobseine, and Forrest Prouty set the example from day one, and the team never looked back. Congratulations to all members of the boys' tennis team on a great season!
Sixth-grade students "transformed" into wax versions of notable people that came to life for elementary visitors at the push of a button. From Lionel Messi and Queen Elizabeth to Jane Goodall, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and many more, the sixth graders did their research and dressed the part to present their person's life and achievements!

Matthew first learned to play golf four years ago with the help of a neighbor who generously taught him the game and gave him a set of youth clubs. It is a reminder of the lasting impact that encouragement and mentorship from adults can have on a young person’s life.
Please join us in cheering Matthew on at States!

First singles from East Aurora forfeited the match, so Bryce Cook walked away with the forfeit victory in both matches.
In second singles action, Garrison Heichberger won the first match 8-6. That match showed the resiliency and fight Heichberger is well known for on the courts. He battled back from being down multiple times and fought his way to a big first-match victory. In the second contest, Garrison lost 4-8, but it wasn’t from a lack of quality play. Garrison hustled throughout the contest, making the match very competitive.
In first doubles action, the duo of Liam Bobseine and Matt Baumgartner won the first match 8-2. It was some of the best tennis out of the seniors this season as they crushed baseline shots and controlled the net. In the second match, it was more of the same as the combination of Matt’s power and Liam’s solid net play proved far too much for EA to handle as SGI won 8-4.
In second doubles play, Forest Prouty and Avery Noeson lost their first match 5-8. The boys knew they played a good match but had a lot more to give in the second match to pick up the point, and they did just that. Noeson and Prouty took the second match in a thrilling 9-7 set win, which saw both players excel from the service line and baseline. It was a big-time response from two players who have improved drastically as the season has progressed.
In third doubles action, Will Prinino and Frank Keeton took the first match 8-5. The tandem continued their solid play of controlling the baseline and pounding the ball up front to win points. In the second match, Prinino and Keeton won 8-3. It was more of the same as both players stayed consistent and played excellent team tennis.
Last night’s results complete one of the best boys tennis seasons in recent memory. None of this is accomplished without the tremendous leadership displayed by our seniors: Bryce Cook, Garrison Heichberger, Forrest Prouty, Liam Bobseine and Matt Baumgartner. Those 5 young men have set the standard for the program and demonstrated what it means to be high-performing student athletes.
The boys finish their season 15-1 overall and CHAMPIONS OF DIVISION 4. Great job, guys!

In his first match of the day, Bryce took on the first singles player from Hamburg and won 6-4, 6-7, and 6-1. Bryce showed off great stamina on the day and stellar shot-making from the baseline. Bryce’s ability to stay patient and play smart was a huge reason for the win.
Next up was an opportunity to qualify for sectionals, as he faced the top player from Iroquois. Bryce once again made his opponent work for every point, and never quit, but eventually fell in three sets by a score of:
3-6, 7-5, 0-6.
Despite the final result, nobody had a tournament like Bryce had. He played five matches, over two days, and had four of those matches go to three sets. Bryce put SGI boys tennis on the map with his performances in a tournament involving only the very best players in the area. Be sure to congratulate Bryce on an incredible showing.
Next up, we travel to East Aurora today with the division on the line in a huge matchup. It’ll be a doubleheader contest with the winner taking home the D4 championship. Come out and support the guys!
