Mrs. Ballantyne’s Kindergarten class had a fabulous time celebrating Thanksgiving with their very own “Balloons Over Broadway” Parade! They created turkey headbands and Native American-inspired noodle necklaces. They wrapped up the celebration with a Charlie Brown–style Thanksgiving feast, complete with all the classic trimmings — popcorn, pretzels, candy, and toast. It was a joyful day filled with creativity, laughter, and fun memories!

Mrs. Hamister's, Mrs. Tester's and Mrs. Voigt's 4th-grade, Mrs. Hess's 2nd-grade and Mrs. Hamm's 1st-grade classes all spent time learning about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Their classes then designed their own balloons for a parade they put on for the fifth graders while they enjoyed their Thanksgiving feast!

Yesterday, SES fifth-graders prepared the wide-ranging menu for the traditional Fifth Grade Feast! Students helped make chicken and vegetable soup, cheesy potatoes, cornbread, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn, applesauce, and a festive pumpkin dessert. The meal was made even more special thanks to generous donations of roasting chickens from Wendel’s Poultry and Ford Brothers Meats, as well as the students' families! In addition to the meal, the students created cards that were donated to the Trading Post for their Thanksgiving Dinner.

Attention Families: This year TeamSmile has expanded to include students from Springville and Colden elementary schools as well as Springville Middle School! Free dental care and dental education will be provided along with a fun day for students at the Bills' Field House. Families who are interested in signing up can contact their child's school nurse.

Last week, Springville Elementary held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony, an event that is beloved by both students and the community each year. Student Council members emceed the event, and musical performances were provided by the fourth- and fifth-grade chorus and the orchestra. Service members were asked to stand and be recognized as their branch was called. Then it was time for the grand gesture as students joined their families in the hall and the rest of their classmates filed past with a wave, a high five or a "thank you for your service." SES, as a school community, has a strong bond with those who have served our country. To learn more, enjoy the video below.

The third grade at SES recently learned about bats. We wrapped up the bat unit by making bat caves using shoe boxes. Mrs. Pfeiffer's class is pictured.

Students in Mrs. Duerr’s and Mrs. Spielberger’s first grade classroom at SES designed inclined planes during an October STEM activity. Students were challenged to design and build an inclined plane structure to get their candy pumpkin the furthest or the fastest to an end point. Pictured are the teams whose structures were most effective.

The second-grade classes from Springville Elementary had the opportunity to visit the Farm to Table Program at the Erie County Fairgrounds. The theme for October was harvest. Students had the opportunity to learn about all types of corn, honey, and pumpkins. The students sampled local honey and made pumpkin pie in a bag. They also had the opportunity to complete a flower and a harvest corn craft. What a great way to learn about our local farmers and crops!

A few fun activities with centers in Kindergarten!

SES has been having a crazy good time celebrating Red Ribbon Week! Pictured are some of Mrs. Ballanytne's students on Crazy Hat/Hair/Sock Day!

Happy Spookley Day! Mrs. Ballantyne's Kindergarteners had so much fun learning that being different makes you special when reading the book "Spookley the Square Pumpkin." Everyone has unique and valuable qualities
with something important to offer. The story encourages kids to treat others with kindness, no matter how they look or what makes them different. They created a paper Spookley and made a graham cracker Spookley as a tasty treat to watch during the movie.
