Welcome back, Griffins! Today is the first day of a great school year at SGI!

All students currently in grades 6-7 and 9-11 will keep their Chromebooks and power adapters (chargers) over the summer. Students currently in grade 8 will turn in their Chromebooks and be issued new devices in September. Students will be expected to bring their Chromebooks during the opening days of school in September. The Technology Department will disable devices on the last day of school and will be reactivating them in the last week in August. Students assigned summer work, such as AP coursework, will be activated individually. Students attending summer school, or summer skills camp will have devices provided on-site.
If you have a student who will not be attending Springville-Griffith schools next year, please return the assigned Chromebook to your main office. This is ONLY if your student(s) will not be attending Springville-Griffith next year.
Please:
Keep the device in a cool and dry location.
Do not leave device unattended.
Store power adapter (charger) with the Chromebook.

The SES yearbook is something that every student looks forward to receiving each year. For as long as we can remember, this yearbook has been free for every student. This year, we were informed by our supplier that the books would no longer be free and there would be a substantial cost if we wanted to provide each student with a yearbook. In an effort to cover this cost for students, we are planning a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. Your participation in this survey will help to ensure we create the best possible experience for you and your family.

We're adapting to the milk carton shortage!
There is a nationwide shortage of half-pint milk cartons, but SGI Culinary is adapting. We support farmers and know the nutritional value of milk for our children. We will continue to purchase milk and chocolate milk that will be offered in individual cups at all grade levels alongside a choice of water and juice. We will continue to monitor this unique situation that is impacting all schools. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

The Springville Elementary PTA's Bingo for Books has been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 21 from 6:00-7:15 pm at SES! Popcorn and drinks will be provided. All students leave with a book!
Reminder: We will conduct a Go Home Early Drill on Friday, October 6, 2023 at all of our buildings. Students will be dismissed 15 minutes early.
Springville Elementary is also getting into the spirit! Fall Spirit Week will be held September 25-29 and is sponsored by the SES Student Council!
The first day of Summer Enrichment Camp Session 2 is off to the races! The Horse and Donkey Care, Inspired by Nature Arts, Mindset Math, Chess Camp, Down to Earth Gardening, Color Guard, Golf, Soccer and STEM were just a few of the activities that started off Session 2!
Summer Enrichment Camp is in full swing! Hosted at the high school, students engaged in many activities that will enrich them academically, physically and socially. Wrestling, yoga, Legos, moonwalks and sidewalk chalk drawings were just a few of the activities that started off a great summer at S-GI!
In time for Arbor Day, Schichtel Nursery donated five sugar maples to Springville Elementary. Mr. Schichtel's son, Henry recently visited the Sugar Shack with his classmates and his stories inspired the generous donation. Fifth-grade students and Mrs. Goodrich's second-grade class assisted in digging the holes and planting the five-year-old trees. It will be another 10-15 years before the trees are mature and ready to be tapped, but they will help increase syrup production at the sugar shack when they are ready! Thank you, Schichtel Nursery!
S-GI Families, please consider registering your child for the S-GI Summer Enrichment Program! This year we are offering two sessions that will offer learning opportunities to enrich students' lives and renew their love for school. AM and PM camps will be offered for Session 1 from July 11-27 and Session 2 from August 1-10. All Camps will be held at the high school. Registration is from May 8-22. SES Students made their own spaceship from materials they found at home for PARP. Students earned tickets for their reading and participating in activities for a chance to enter the PARP Raffle. Identical “Momo” twins Rebecca and Kayla Lightcap, fifth-graders at SES, played an early Aril Fool’s Day joke on their classmates and teachers when they switched homeroom classes for the day and no one knew! Classmates and teachers were completely fooled as the girls pretended, quite successfully, to be the other!
Mrs. Balantyne's kindergarten class ventured outside to "Chalk the Walk" for PARP. Students left colorful drawings and writing on the sidewalk!
Mr. Kohl's fourth-graders visited Mrs. Jackson's first-grade class to partner up and read each other stories during PARP! The first-graders took a turn being the reader first, and then they were the listeners as the fourth-graders read a funny story.
Students at SES were asked to make spaceships from materials they could find at home as part of this year's Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) theme, "Reading is Out of This World!" From pop bottles to Pringles cans, pie tins, Legos and clay sculptures, students submitted an array of spaceships, rockets and flying saucers. Each creation earned students a PARP ticket to enter a raffle drawing.
