The varsity boys tennis team kept their perfect season intact last night by defeating a tough Alden team by a score of 4-1.

In the first singles play, Bryce Cook won 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4). Cook fought back from a 2-5 deficit in the first set and showed why he’s one of the top players in the area. The second set saw Bryce handle adversity and overcome his opponent, coming back from a 4-5 deficit. It was one of Bryce’s best wins of the season.

In the second singles play, Garrison Heichberger lost 4-6, 4-6. Garrison played a solid match, and even came back from a 2-5 deficit in the second set, but couldn’t quite come all the way back. Despite the result, Garrison should have terrific mental toughness and perseverance.

In first doubles action, Matt Baumgartner and Liam Bobseine won 6-2, 6-2. The tandem played a complete match, which kept their opponents off balance throughout the contest. Matt hit some big shots from the baseline, and Liam was excellent at the net.

In second doubles play, Forrest Prouty and Avery Noeson won 6-3, 6-1. Both players were fantastic in their overall play, continuing to mesh well and performing at a high level.

In third doubles action, Frank Keeton and Will Prinino won 6-2, 6-4. The boys had to battle a tough comeback attempt in the second set, and they did just that with some clutch shots and consistent play.

In exhibition play, Kaiden Bialasik and Oliver Prinino won 6-5, and Toly Wochensky won his singles match 6-0.

The team is now 9-0 on the season and welcomes East Aurora this afternoon in a match that will decide 1st place in Division 4. Come out and support this talented group and support them if you’re able!
