The varsity girls basketball team rebounded from its first league loss of the season in dominant fashion by beating Cleveland Hill by a score of 53-19. The girls started hot, as Dani Oakley and Lilly Enser hit two three-pointers, which helped put the Griffs up 18-5 going into the second quarter. That quarter saw strong interior play from Aubrey Roy, as she poured in 5 points and was a force underneath. The girls entered halftime up by 13 points but knew they could find another gear. They did just that, as the girls dominated the 3rd quarter, winning it by a score of 15-2, and had some tremendous hustle plays out of Leah Franklin. The girls held strong defensively and finished the game strong behind a late 3-pointer from Bella Sullivan. Scorers on the night were:
Aubrey Roy- 15 points
Dani Oakley- 14 points
Leah Franklin- 8 points
Lilly Enser- 7 points
Bella Sullivan- 5 points
Kelcie Illig- 2 points

The girls are now 11-3 overall and are 9-1 in league play. The team will travel to Eden in a pivotal league match-up against the Lady Raiders on Tuesday night.

SGI Lady Griffs dropped a tough game last night to Holland by a score of 37-25. The girls just couldn’t seem to get into the rhythm on the evening and struggled to score the ball. The girls also took far too many fouls, which led to three girls fouling out on the night. The team will look to bounce back on Thursday night when they play host to Cleveland Hill.

The varsity girls basketball team continued its winning ways on Friday afternoon as they pulled out a thrilling 33-30 win over the East Aurora Blue Devils. The girls started hot as they opened the game, going up 11-0. That run saw two three-pointers from Dani Oakley and Lilly Enser. The second quarter was a different story, as the girls were held to 2 points scored and entered the locker room up 17-16. The team played a strong third quarter, led by great rebounding from Aubrey Roy and strong play from Leah Franklin. As the girls progressed through the 4th quarter, the team's lead grew to 8 points with about 3 minutes to play. East Aurora made a strong run in a 2-minute span as they eventually tied the Lady Griffs with 11 seconds remaining. That was plenty of time for SGI as Dani Oakley took the ball from halfcourt, drove strong to the left side of the basket, and finished a lay-up with just seconds remaining. The girls got the defensive stop they needed, hit one of two free throws, and sealed the win with an Aubrey Roy rebound. Not to be forgotten were the four huge three-pointers out of Lilly Enser, which kept the Lady Griffs in control for most of the game. Scorers in the game were:

Lilly Enser- 12 points
Dani Oakley- 9 points
Aubrey Roy- 6 points and 14 REBOUNDS!
Leah Franklin- 4 points
Kelcie Illig- 2 points

The girls are now 10-2 on the season and travel to Holland this afternoon in a battle for first place in D4.

The varsity girls' basketball team pulled out a tough 45-34 victory over JFK last night. The girls were in complete control in the first half as they took a 17-point lead into the locker room. Unfortunately, JFK went on a huge run, and the Griffs saw their lead go from 17 points down to 1 point. The team displayed their toughness and resilience as they put the clamps on defensively and hit some timely shots. Dani Oakley hit two HUGE three pointers to give the girls a 7-point lead going into the 4th quarter. The lead would drop to 3 points, but that was as close as JFK would get. Bella Sullivan hit a runner, Kelcie Illig attacked the paint and finished, Aubrey Roy had a strong post move and was fouled, and Leah Franklin had a big offensive rebound and out back. Scorers on the night were:
Dani Oakley- 13 points
Bella Sullivan- 12 points
Kelcie Illig- 6 points
Aubrey Roy- 6 points
Leah Franklin- 6 points
Brooks Ruzycki- 2 points

The girls are now 9-2 overall and have a perfect 8-0 record in league play.

All three girls were locked in from the start and played with a lot of tenacity and aggressiveness. The third quarter also saw Dani Oakley bury three 3-pointers, giving the girls a 13-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. The team finished strong and got another D4 victory. Scorers on the night were:

Dani Oakley- 27 points
Lilly Enser- 7 points

The varsity girls' basketball team defeated the Eden Raiders last night by a score of 46-39. It was a showdown between the top 2 teams in D4, and the game did not disappoint. The Lady Griff's showed off some stellar defense in the first half as they entered the locker-room up 27-17. That half saw some terrific performances on defense by Leah Franklin, Bella Sullivan and Lilly Enser. Dani Oakley hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter alone to push the lead to double digits. The girls continued their dominance into the third quarter thanks to some terrific pressure by Kelcie Illig. Illig, Oakley, and Enser continued to lock down the perimeter players that Eden had. Despite the team's 4th quarter not being its best, Brooke Ruzycki came in and delivered some strong minutes on both ends of the floor, which helped the team win a crucial game and claim sole possession of first place in D4. Scorers on the night were:

Dani Oakley- 20 points
Aubrey Roy- 13 points
Kelcie Illig- 4 points
Bella Sullivan- 3 points
Leah Franklin- 2 points
Brooke Ruzycki- 2 points
Lilly Enser- 2 points

The girls return to action tonight as they travel to Cleveland Hill in another D4 contest.
