Lily, a seventh-grader at SMS, recently created a tactile sensory board for her Kids Make A Difference Service Project! Each year, Mr. Karb, Mrs. Lewandowski and Mrs. Gaffeny assign the seventh-grade students a service project, which includes writing a business letter to a non-profit they are passionate about and performing 4-6 community service hours. Lily wrote her letter to Hidden Angel Foundation, an organization formed in honor of her uncle, Christopher Dougals, and her great-grandmother, Joyce Baye. The Hidden Angel Foundation’s primary goal is to promote the use of multi-sensory environments in therapeutic, recreational, and educational settings. The sensory board she created will be donated to The Children's League.

We also welcomed our fourth-grade Golden Griffin Sellers, fifth-grade Maple syrup sales, capital project engineers, and food trucks at this wonderful family event!

The varsity boys tennis team continued their strong season as they defeated West Seneca East by a score of 5-0.
In first singles action, Bryce Cook won 6-0, 6-0. Bryce frustrated his opponent from start to finish with his strong first serves and steady play from the baseline.
In the second singles play, Garrison Heichberger battled to a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Heichberger overcame unforced errors and a solid opponent by making big shots when it mattered most.
In first doubles play, Liam Bobseine and Matt Baumgartner won 7-5, 6-4. The duo had to battle back from a 2-5 deficit in the first set, and they did just that. Both players found their rhythm after pushing the score to 4-5. From there, the consistency from the net was crucial, along with some excellent passing shots from the baseline.
In second doubles action, Forrest Prouty and Avery Noeson won 7-6, 6-0. The boys shrugged off a slow start, being down 1-4, and won a thrilling tiebreaker. From that point on, both players were tremendous and dominated the second set.
In third doubles play, Will Prinino and Frank Keeton won 6-0, 6-0. Both players were incredibly consistent throughout the match and never gave their opponents a chance to compete.
In exhibition play, Kaiden Bialasik and Oliver Prinino won 6-1. Will Prinino and Tristan Jones won 6-1. Ben Watson and Sebastian Ehrig won 6-2.

Nate is a 2025 graduate from SGI who enlisted in the Navy following graduation. He stopped at SGI to share information about his experience at Boot Camp in Chicago, Illinois, and his recent completion of A-School in Pensacola, Florida. His next step is to be stationed for duty at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, where he will be an Information Tech Seaman Apprentice, specializing in communication operations, networking, and information security at shore installations. His SGI family at the High School was thrilled to see him and very happy to hear that he is doing so well.

In second singles action, Garrison Heichberger won 8-0, 8-0. Heichberger was just too much for his opponent as he dominated at the net and put a lot of pressure throughout the contest with his baseline winners.
In first doubles play, Matt Baumgartner and Liam Bobseine won 8-2, 8-1. Liam had some high-quality backhand shots, and Matt was strong at the net to secure the win.
In second doubles action, Forrest Prouty and Avery Noeson won 8-0, 8-1. Both players demonstrated some tremendous baseline play and strong volleys at the net.

SES 5th-grade students recently had the exciting opportunity to create their own metal sculptures in Art class. With guidance from High School Tech Teacher Mr. Timothy Baumgartner, students brought their original sketches to life using a plasma cutter — an experience that combined creativity with hands-on technical skills. Next, students will add color by spray painting their sculptures and enhance them with details and accents using paint markers. These unique creations will serve as lasting keepsakes of their hard work and creativity — a true life-long treasure.

SGI SADD students recently attended a Youth Leadership Summit along with 200 others from WNY! The day was filled with team-building and leadership activities, demonstrations by police on the effects of alcohol on one's ability to perform tasks, and a presentation on the importance of creating supportive and inclusive communities. The day ended with a powerful message from sports analyst Ryan D. Leaf. Thank you to the Substance Free Coalition, Kids Escaping Drugs and The Character Council of Western New York for hosting this event!
Recently, seventh-grade students had the opportunity to hear from WNY Heroes representatives Shadasia Rogers and Dave College, who presented on the Pawsitive for Heroes Program. The visit was a result of seventh-grader Timothy Kley's Service Project. Each year, Mr. Karb, Mrs. Lewandowski and Mrs. Gaffeny assign the seventh-grade students a service project, which includes writing a business letter to a non-profit they are passionate about and performing 4-6 community service hours. Ms. Rogers and Mr. College and their service dogs shared about how the program provides service dogs for veterans, answering students' questions and allowing them to pet the dogs after the presentation.
