The Bills make Springville Elementary staff want to shout!
To end School Safety Week, we will conduct a Go Home Early Drill on Friday, October 3 at all of our buildings. Students will be dismissed 15 minutes early. If you have any questions, please contact the main office.
The Springville boys modified football team kept their undefeated season alive, improving to 4–0 with a dominant 25–0 win over the Iroquois Red Hawks.
The Griffins’ defense set the tone early, swarming to the ball and shutting down every Red Hawk drive to secure a hard-earned shutout.
On the other side of the ball, the offense piled up over 300 total yards and scored four touchdowns, powered by strong line play and sharp execution.
It was truly complementary football, on offense, defense, and teamwork, all working together. Each week, this team continues to grow, play harder, and raise the standard.

The boys Varsity Soccer Team played Cheektowaga on Monday night and we're able to secure a 6 to nothing win. Scoring on the night was Bryce Cook with a Hat-trick, Will Prinino with a brace, and Ryan Miga with a free-kick goal. Garrison Heichberger, Hunter Swanson, and the committee of defenders that had to partake last night did an excellent job to help secure a clean sheet with Remi and Ben taking split time in goal.
Under the instruction of Mrs. Mealer, SES chorus students are learning a patriotic song in preparation for the upcoming Veterans Day ceremony.

Apple Day was a bushel of fun in Mrs. Ballantyne's kindergarten classroom! They learned all about Johnny Appleseed and his adventurous life spreading apple seeds across the country. Students also had the opportunity to explore the different flavors of red, yellow, and green apples, and everyone got to share which one was their favorite. One of the most exciting parts of the day was learning how to safely use a knife to cut apples. Each student helped add apples to our classroom applesauce, which turned out to be delicious—especially with the mix of different apple varieties. To wrap up our apple-themed fun, everyone completed a directed drawing of Johnny Appleseed, and the results were amazing! It was a day full of learning, creativity, and lots of tasty fun!

The girls' modified soccer team won a thrilling game against division rival East Aurora. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, sending it to overtime. One minute into the extra session, Harper Nadolny sent a corner kick into the goal box, and Jordan Merchant smashed it into the net for the winning score. The girls' next game is at home against Tonawanda this Wednesday.
During the month of September, Springville Middle School focused on the character trait of Respect. Respect means treating others the way you would like to be treated — with kindness, fairness, and understanding. It also means valuing yourself, your teachers, classmates, school property, and the diverse perspectives that make our community unique.
Respect can be shown in many ways, big and small. Simple actions, such as listening when someone is speaking, using polite language, following school rules, and taking care of shared spaces, are all examples of respect in action. Respect also means appreciating differences, even when we don’t always agree, and working together to create a positive and welcoming environment.
By practicing respect, we create a safe and supportive school environment where everyone can succeed. The October character trait is citizenship.

The girls' tennis team participated in the prestigious Team Championships on Saturday morning at Amherst High School.
The team took on an experienced Frewsburg team (top 7 players are seniors) and lost a tough 4-1 match.
In first singles play, freshman Evelyn Berry won 6-0, 6-1. Evelyn took the court and played with purpose as she ran her opponent all over the baseline and hit some big serves.
In second singles action, Natalie Rumfola lost a marathon match: 6-7, 3-6. Natalie played a terrific match, without giving up, and gave her opponent all she could handle.
In first doubles action, Taylor Wells and Peyton Wells lost 3-6, 3-6. It was another highly competitive match which saw both girls make some big shots during the contest.
In second doubles play, Teerada Dickson and Jackie Thompson lost 5-7, 4-6. It was a match that could’ve gone either way as both girls played well and had a couple shots go the wrong way. Still, both girls never quit!
In third doubles action, Alexis Beckwith and Maya Schunk lost 0-6, 3-6. It was the first time both girls played as a team, and they found their rhythm in the second set, taking 3 games and putting pressure on their opponents.
This was a tough result but an excellent experience for the Lady Griffs! Great job, girls!

On Saturday, September 27, the Springville-Griffith Institute cross country teams competed in the prestigious McQuaid Invitational, one of the largest meets in the region. The meet consisted of over 6,000 runners and 268 schools from all over the country and Canada. The Griffins delivered strong performances across the board, highlighted by junior Elke Melnik’s 8th-place finish in a competitive field of 319 runners. Bryce Cook was the top male finisher for Springville in the boys' race.
The girls’ team placed 10th out of 33 teams, showing depth and consistency, while the boys’ team finished 29th out of 50 teams, competing hard against a stacked field. The Cross Country team will travel to the Southern Tier Classic this Saturday at Allegany-Limestone to compete against 14 schools from New York and Pennsylvania.

SES fourth-graders were welcomed at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site on September 18 and 19. This historic site, located on Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo, introduced the students to the momentous occasion of Theodore Roosevelt being sworn in on September 14, 1901, as the 26th president of the United States. Students learned about the Pan American Exposition of 1901 that took place in Buffalo and attracted approximately 8 million visitors over a 6-month period. The trip was highlighted by an interactive life-size AI model of Theodore Roosevelt. Students enjoyed this unique experience and expressed interest in returning for a future visit!
