The girls' tennis team won their third match in a row by defeating Alden 3-2.
In the first singles play, Evelyn Berry won 6-0, 6-1. Evelyn couldn’t be stopped on the day as she pounded multiple groundstroke winners and had a great day serving.
In the second singles play, Natalie Rumfola won
6-3, 6-3. Natalie was steady throughout the contest as she played long points and hit some clutch shots when it mattered most.
In first doubles action, Taylor Wells and Peyton Wells won 6-1, 7-5. The sisters dominated the first set with terrific all-around play. In the second set, the girls had to dig deep, and they did so to take home the second set.
In second doubles action, Teerada Dickson and Alexis Beckwith lost 4-6, 2-6. The girls played a strong match and showed great growth in the contest.
In third doubles action, Chloe Dinse-Johnson and Kailyn Sprague lost 2-6, 5-7. The girls rallied in the second set to get back in the match, but couldn’t quite put it all together. Still, it was a strong showing!

The girls will now turn their attention to a huge league showdown as they play host to East Aurora. This match has the potential to move Springville into first place. Come out and watch the girls compete!

This week was full of fun, but students and staff also took time on Thursday to remember the events of September 11, 2001. They dressed in red, white and blue and at Colden, students created forced-perspective artwork of the twin towers from Ground Zero with the words "Never Forget."

What a great spirit week it has been! The weather has been outstanding, and we are all excited for the annual Homecoming parade, which will leave from Springville High School this evening at 5:30 PM.
We would like to make sure that this is another safe and fun event for our families in attendance. With that, we ask that, once again, adults please keep children on the side of the road during the parade and wait for all vehicles to pass before attempting to pick up any candy from the road. The vehicles and floats are quite large, and drivers may not see children who run out into the roadway. We sincerely appreciate your help in this matter!

Springville Girls Varsity Swim Team Defeats Pioneer in Season Opener
The Springville Girls Varsity Swim Team started their season strong on September 4, earning a decisive 56–36 victory over Pioneer in their first dual meet of the year. The girls showcased their hard work and determination with multiple first-place finishes and personal bests.
🏅 Meet Highlights:
Corinne McAndrew dominated the distance events, winning both the 200 Freestyle (2:09.96) and 500 Freestyle (5:58.00).
Kiersten Crone sprinted to victory in the 50 Freestyle (28.27) and added another win in the 100 Butterfly (1:16.59).
Maeve Annunziata earned a first-place finish in the 100 Backstroke (1:17.10) and a strong second place in the 200 Freestyle (2:33.58).
Kendra Cook secured second place in both the 200 IM (2:47.59) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:22.76).
Helen Emerling took second in the 100 Freestyle (1:12.34) and third in the 200 IM (3:04.22).
Sophia Lightcap finished second in the 100 Butterfly (1:29.27).
Erin Baker added depth with a third-place finish in the 100 Backstroke (1:20.09).
Kayla Lightcap battled through the 500 Freestyle (7:45.24) to take third place.
With impressive swims from every lane, the Griffins displayed both speed and depth, setting a strong tone for the rest of the season.

Congratulations to the Springville Griffins Modified Football team on a huge season-opening win over the Pioneer Panthers! The Griffins may have been outnumbered and outsized, but they were never outmatched. The defense not only held Pioneer to just 12 points, but they also scored 6 of their own! Add in a powerful offensive attack, and the Griffins lit up the scoreboard with 33 points. It was an incredible team effort that proved hard work, consistency, and playing together can make anything possible. Way to go, Griffins!

In the first singles play, Evelyn Berry won 6-0, 6-0. Evelyn played excellent tennis throughout the match and showed great focus during the contest.
In second singles action, Natalie Rumfola won 6-0, 6-0. Once again, Natalie continued her strong play on the season and overwhelmed her opponent.
In first doubles action, Taylor Wells and Peyton Wells won 6-1, 6-2. The girls had to battle throughout the match, and they did so with terrific shot-making and good teamwork.
In second doubles play, Jackie Thompson and Teerada Dickson won 6-3, 6-3. The duo strung together some big time shots to pull away and get the winning point for the team victory.
In third doubles play, Kailyn Sprague and Gianna Nevins lost 3-6, 6-4, 3-6. The girls did a great job of coming back in the match, but they couldn’t quite overcome the deficit.

In first singles action, Evelyn Berry lost 6-1,
6-7(4-6) 6-7(4-6) in a very entertaining battle. Evelyn was fantastic throughout the marathon match and made some big shots!
In second singles action, Natalie Rumfola won 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Natalie took the first set but had a battle on her hands as she dropped the second set. Rumfola refocused and found her rhythm on the court with some terrific shots.
In first doubles action, Taylor Wells and Peyton Wells lost 1-6, 0-6. The girls ran up against an excellent squad but still found a way to make quality plays.
In second doubles play, Jackie Thompson and Teerada Dickson lost 4-6, 2-6. Despite the result, the duo continues to improve their play and overall court awareness.
In third doubles action, Kailyn Sprague and Gianna Nevins lost 6-4, 2-6, 2-6. The girls raced out to a first-set win but couldn’t quite keep the momentum going. It was still a great showing by the girls.

In first doubles play, Taylor Wells and Peyton Wells won 6-0, 6-1. The sisters were solid with their play from the baseline and kept their opponents off balance throughout the match.
In the second doubles competition, Teerada Dickson and Jackie Thompson won 6-0, 6-0. The tandem is starting to click as a team and continues to improve their overall play.

In exhibition action, Abby Adkison won 8-0. It was Abby’s first career victory! Maya Schunk and Rory Sarver picked up their first career victories by winning 6-4. Amileah Muhisin and Lily Wantuck also picked up their first career wins.

The Springville-Griffith Institute Central School District has an opening for a full-time Teaching Assistant at Colden Elementary. This is a new position for instructional support. A NYS Certification as a Teaching Assistant is required.

Springville Elementary is once again holding its character education program for the 2025-2026 school year. Kicking off September's character trait of the month is Respect. Students and staff who demonstrate respect will be recognized in October. Each month, the students will also have the opportunity to earn Griffin Bucks when they exemplify the character traits.
