This week was SES's very first school experience of the year! Students used their Griffin Bucks to enter for a chance to participate in a school experience at The Flower Stand! Students learned about the fall seeding process, types of plants and how to seed in the spring. Not only has Mrs. Ellen Krezman given us this opportunity, but she also supports our cafeteria with all the vegetables we eat! Students can earn a Griffin Buck each day for being respectful, responsible and safe in order to exchange for prizes at the Griffin Store each month. Stay tuned for the next experience!

Springville Boys Modified Football advanced to 5–1 on the season with a dominant win over Kenmore East.

The defense put on a form-tackling clinic, holding Kenmore without a first down through the entire first half. On offense, the Griffins racked up over 400 yards behind powerful and disciplined offensive line play.

Final Score: Springville 56 – Kenmore East 13

Come cheer on the team as they continue to chase their goal of “How good can we get?” next Wednesday at Pop Warner Field — kickoff is at 6:00 PM!

The girls' modified soccer team won again, extending their streak. Holland was undefeated and hadn't been scored on all season, but Springville took care of that, winning 2-1. Brianna Marinello and Jordan Merchant scored the goals, with Nikita Eckam and Arizona Bartlett making some great saves in net. Ava Roy was fantastic on defense, making several key clearances. Up next is an away game at East Aurora.

On Friday afternoon, members of the girls' tennis team took part in the ECIC Tournament at Miller Tennis Center.

First up was the doubles team of Taylor Wells and Peyton Wells. They took on a team from Clarence and lost 0-6,0-6. Despite the result, the girls had a phenomenal year as the first doubles team, and they were selected to the D$ All-Star team!

Next, Natalie Rumfola took on Hamburg and lost in straight sets 3-6, 2-6. Natalie battled throughout the contest, showing why she was such a consistent force for her team. Despite the loss, Natalie was undefeated in D4 play and holds non-league wins over Mt. Mercy, Williamsville South and Lake Shore.

Lastly, Evelyn Berry was finally able to demonstrate to all of ECIC why she will be a force from now until the time she graduates. Evelyn's first match on the day was against Orchard Park, and she won 6-0, 6-0. Next up, Evelyn faced off against Amherst's first singles player, with a trip to day 2 of the tournament on the line. Evelyn won a two-and-a-half-hour thriller by a score of 7-6, 6-7, 6-3. It was the match of the day as both players competed at a high level. Evelyn's mental toughness and physical stamina proved to be the difference. Evelyn then went on to face the top player out of Orchard Park and lost 0-6, 1-6. That particular result couldn't tarnish how special a day the freshman superstar out of Springville had.

The next day, Evelyn had to play two additional matches. With one win, Evelyn would secure a spot in the sectional tennis tournament. Her first-round opponent was the top player from Lancaster. Evelyn lost a tough 3-set match by a score of 6-7, 7-5, 2-6. Despite the result, Evelyn knew she had to mentally move forward and prepare for her next opponent. Evelyn ended up playing the top player out of Sweet Home, and she took home a tough 7-6, 6-4 victory. This match saw Evelyn down multiple times, but as has been the case all year, Evelyn refused to go away. Her tremendous shot-making and clutch play carried her to the win.

The win gave Evelyn a 7th-place singles finish in the tournament (comprised of the best players from D1-D4) and a trip to the sectional tournament. Evelyn's match time and opponent will be revealed later this afternoon.

Big congratulations to all our players who participated in the tournament, and a huge round of applause for Eveleyn Berry as she continues her season!

Springville Boys Modified Football came up just short in a 26–28 battle, but their effort and unity stood tall. This group played with heart, supported one another, and never backed down. Even in defeat, they showed what it means to be a team. The Griffins now move to 4–1 on the season, a reminder that true teams grow stronger through every challenge.

Special shoutout to over half the team for maintaining an average of 90% or higher in the classroom! Proud of the way our student-athletes represent Springville on and off the field.

The girls' modified soccer team won again last night, beating Alden 3-0. Goals were scored by Lilly Trautman, Jordan Merchant and Addie Wochensky. Evelyn Findlay and Sophia Young were a constant force in midfield, moving the ball up to the strikers and hustling back to make stops on defense. A highlight of the game was goalie Arizona Bartlett stopping a penalty kick! The girls play next Wednesday against Holland.
