No Holiday Spirit Week is complete without Holiday Follies at Springville Middle School! Students and staff participated in a series of fun holiday-themed events, and the eighth graders finished the games on top!

Holiday Spirit Week culminated with the Holiday Carnival at Springville High School! After dressing in holiday-themed attire all week, the classes competed in holiday-themed tasks. It was a great way to ring in the holiday season!

Colden Elementary students enjoyed some holiday cheer before break at the Winter Carnival! Students made holiday arts and crafts and spent time with Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Springville Elementary students prepared for the holiday by shopping at the SES Holiday Shop! Please join us in thanking the SES PTO volunteers who keep this beloved tradition going!

Springville Middle School students who were recognized for the character trait of the month - Kindness - were able to participate in a tasty reward! The students were called down to the cafeteria to frost and decorate their own homemade holiday cutout cookies!

Last week, Colden Elementary students were able to visit the annual Holiday Shop to select gifts for their families. Thank you to the Colden PTA volunteers who make this holiday tradition possible!

The dropping temps today have made some roadways in our area quite slippery. As a result, we are going to dismiss students at SMS and SHS 20 minutes early to ensure that our buses can be back on time for the elementary run. Please note that Springville Elementary and Colden Elementary will be dismissed at the normal time. Lastly, afterschool activities are going to continue as scheduled. Travel safely this afternoon and I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!

Teachers and students went all out for this year's Door Decorating Contest at Springville High School! From beloved characters to season's greetings, the halls are filled with the holiday spirit!

The varsity girls' basketball team put together its best game of the year last night, defeating Grand Island by a score of 59-45. The tone was set early by Dani Oakley with some incredible individual defense. She had many steals on the evening and converted them into lay-ups. The girls entered halftime up by 13 points and kept their foot on the gas pedal, securing defensive stops and capitalizing on opportunities in transition. Aubrey Roy was a huge part of the Lady Griff's offensive attack as she dominated the paint and finished well around the basket. Scorers on the night were:

Dani Oakley: 30 points
Aubrey Roy: 21 points
Bella Sullivan: 2 points
Kelcie Illig: 2 points
Leah Franklin: 2 points
Lilly Enser: 1 point

The team came through big time defensively and showed great offensive firepower. The girls are now 3-2 overall with a perfect 2-0 league record.

Mrs. Crosby's and Mrs. Embt's Pre-K class at Colden Elementary is having a great time learning about all the holiday traditions this week! They even decorated their very own Gingerbread Houses to take home!

The varsity girls' basketball team returned to their winning ways last night with a big 49-35 victory over JFK. The Lady Griffins entered halftime with a one-point lead, but took the floor to start the third quarter with a different energy and much better defense. Dani Oakley locked down JFK's best player, Bella Sullivan wreaked havoc on and off the ball, Leah Franklin played great help defense, Lilly Enser shutdown the top shooter from the opposition, Kelcie Illig was aggressive with her perimeter defense on the ball, Caroline Blidy gave great effort on the interior, Brooke Ruzycki played great help defense on drives and Aubrey Roy was excellent guarding the inside without fouling.

Scorers on the night were:

Dani Oakley- 12 points
Leah Franklin- 8 points
Bella Sullivan- 5 points
Lilly Enser- 4 points

The girls are now 2-0 in D4 and are in first place. The Lady Griffins play host to Grand Island on Thursday night in a non-league match-up. Great job, girls!

First graders at Colden Elementary have been embracing the holiday spirit while focusing on our character trait of the month, kindness. Students learned about one another’s traditions and showed kindness by helping “fill” stockings for staff members, a beloved Colden holiday tradition. They also enjoyed making gingerbread houses, sharing decorating ideas, and offering kind comments about each other’s creative designs. We are grateful for our families’ support in making these meaningful holiday experiences possible.

Winter is a wonderful time to have fun in the snow! Mrs. Hatnett's pre-K class at Colden Elementary recently took full advantage of the fluffy drifts around the school!

This month, for being safe, respectful and responsible, students had the opportunity to use their Griffin Bucks to go tubing at SES! The students bundled up and had a great time speeding down the hill beside the school!

Following a previous class meeting circle, two of Mrs. Ricci's seventh-grade students, Ava Wallum and Kylie Emerling, took the initiative to create a bulletin board. They wanted the bulletin board to include every seventh grader, so they made snowflakes with every student's name!
